I will praise the name of God with a song;
I will magnify him with thanksgiving.
This will please the Lord more than an ox
or a bull with horns and hoofs.
Let the oppressed see it and be glad;
you who seek God, let your hearts revive!
What are God's demands? What does an all-sufficient God, who owns and controls all things, demand from the creature he has made? His demand is great, but it is not that we be great, but that we cease to be great in our own eyes and become small that he might appear great. "The sacrifice acceptable to God is a broken spirit. A broken and contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise." "It is not the well who need a physician but those who are sick." Jesus has nothing to do for those who insist they are well. He demands something great: that we admit we are not great. This is bad news to the arrogant, but words of honey to the oppressed who have given up their charade of self-sufficiency and are seeking God.
For by such he will be found; and he will pour into their empty hearts such a love as they have never known. And there will arise freely and joyfully a sense of gratitude so genuine and so visible that God will be greatly magnified as the merciful giver of everything we have and are.
Ever since the creation of the world, his invisible nature, namely, his eternal power and deity, has been clearly perceived in the things that have been made. So men are without excuse for, although they knew God, they did not glorify him as God or give him thanks. (Romans 1:20, 21)
Bless the Lord, O my soul and all that is in me, bless his holy name!
Bless the Lord, O my soul and forget not all his benefits. (Psalm 103:1, 2)
May all who seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee.
May those who love thy salvation say continually,
"Great is the Lord!" (Psalm 40:16)
O magnify the Lord with me and let us exalt his name together. (Psalm 34:3)
Let those who delight in my righteousness shout for joy and be glad and say evermore, “Great is the LORD, who delights in the welfare of his servant!” (Ps 35:27)

My, has Nana been a handful these past few months! But, oh, the memories I feel we shall all have (that we otherwise wouldn't) now that she's been here! I really think that this is going to continue to teach us so much... reality really seemed to butt into her this last week, and it's affected not only her own demeanor but that of the entire house. Through it all, the Lord has been reminding me that, no - Anna, no, you don't always know how to simply love . My life should be different from others because of the love in my heart, and my life has definitely needed more of it... as God is showing me! Showing me how to love Nana, and how to keep a heart of compassion, and the heart of gladness and servitude towards her and her needs. How to love Mama, as she struggles with not only the everyday needs of her household and homeschooling her handful of children, but her own mother's health issues - of all times, cancer! - and the strain on her and Nana's relationship b...
