God promises all that we need for life and godliness; with no exception. And when the Bible saysall that we need, it means...all! Our good and gracious Father does not give us a little sliver of grace for obedience, and then leave us exhausting ourselves in futile attempts to draw strength from the well of self-effort. He gives the full measure of grace needed to victoriously live the Christian life, not just sometimes, not just when our “if only” ideals become reality.

Right now, in your current situation and season of life, God has made available to you all that is needed for glad obedience. It is when we are relying on our own strength and power to obey, and not on the power of Christ, that we find ourselves failing and faltering! It is then, when we are tempted to shift the blame for disobedience onto our circumstances; it is then that we insist that we would obey “if only”.

If you are not giving out of your little, you will not give out of your plenty. God does not give us commands without also supplying the means to fulfill them.

Charles Spurgeon, on 2 Timothy 1:9... "Those whom the Saviour saved on the cross are in due time effectively called by the power of God the Holy Spirit to holiness. They leave their sins, and they endeavor to be like Christ. They choose holiness, not out of any compulsion, but from the influence of a new nature, which leads them to     rejoice in holiness       just as naturally    as before they delighted in sin. God neither chose them nor called them because they were holy, but He called them so that they might be holy, and holiness is the beauty produced by His workmanship in them. The Christlike qualities that we see in a believer are as much the work of God as the Atonement itself.  Thus the fullness of the grace of God is brought out very sweetly... The believer's privilege is a present salvation; the evidence that he is called to it is his holy life."
My, has Nana been a handful these past few months! But, oh, the memories I feel we shall all have (that we otherwise wouldn't) now that she's been here! I really think that this is going to continue to teach us so much... reality really seemed to butt into her this last week, and it's affected not only her own demeanor but that of the entire house. Through it all, the Lord has been reminding me that, no - Anna, no, you don't always know how to simply love . My life should be different from others because of the love in my heart, and my life has definitely needed more of it... as God is showing me! Showing me how to love Nana, and how to keep a heart of compassion, and the heart of gladness and servitude towards her and her needs. How to love Mama, as she struggles with not only the everyday needs of her household and homeschooling her handful of children, but her own mother's health issues - of all times, cancer! - and the strain on her and Nana's relationship b...
