"Goodnight, Anna!  I love you so much."
"I love you more... I love you to the stars and back."
"I love you to the stars and back... but, Anna, I don't love you as much as I love Jesus.  I love Jesus, like... to the sun and down."
"Wow, that's a long ways, Cora!  I'm so glad you love Him that much."
...
"Anna, are stars bigger than Jesus?"
*nod my head*
"Anna, are whales bigger than Jesus?"
"Nope!"
"Wow.  I wish I was bigger than a whale, so that whales couldn't pick me up... so whales can't pick up Jesus?"
*nod my head once again*  "No, Cora, remember - God can be everywhere at the same time!  He made the stars and the whales!"
"Well, I'm glad I'm not Jesus.  I wouldn't want to be a giant."

I'm glad I'm not Jesus.  How I love kids. =D  And boy, do they have their own way of teaching you (it's not called "the faith of a child" for nothing)!  The thoughts that ran through my head that night?  "She's SO RIGHT!"  My God is a BIG God.  Yes, I've got a God who can be everywhere at the same time.  I've got a God who can be in Heaven, hover over the earth, and reside in my heart all at once.  I've got a God who can "send lightning bolts on their way" and "snow from their storehouses", who can "bring forth the constellations in their seasons", and "shape the earth like clay under a seal"!  I've got a God who can do some pretty amazing life-changing work in the hearts of men - in mine!  My God is the very one who "gave understanding to the mind" and "endowed the heart with wisdom".

I forget just WHO my God is way too often.  I'm more blessed than I know...
'Cause I've got a God... ohhh, yes - my God?  He's more than all that.  I've got a God who's bigger than a whale! ;-)

“God is God. … He is worthy of my worship and my service. I will find rest nowhere but in His will, and that will is … unspeakably beyond my largest notions of what He is up to.”
This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down His life for us. Dear children, let US not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth .  This then is how we know that we belong to the truth, and how we set our hearts at rest in His presence whenever our hearts condemn us.  For God is greater than our hearts, and He knows everything. Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God and receive from Him anything we ask, because we obey His commands and do what pleases Him.  And THIS is His command: to believe in the name of His son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as He commanded us.  Those who obey His commands live in Him, and He in them.  And this is how we know that He lives in us: We know by the Spirit he gave us. 1 John 3:16, 18-20 How do we set our hearts at rest in His presence, even when our hearts seem to condemn us?  Love one another.  Not with words or tongue, but wit...
Charles Spurgeon, on 2 Timothy 1:9... "Those whom the Saviour saved on the cross are in due time effectively called by the power of God the Holy Spirit to holiness. They leave their sins, and they endeavor to be like Christ. They choose holiness, not out of any compulsion, but from the influence of a new nature, which leads them to     rejoice in holiness       just as naturally    as before they delighted in sin. God neither chose them nor called them because they were holy, but He called them so that they might be holy, and holiness is the beauty produced by His workmanship in them. The Christlike qualities that we see in a believer are as much the work of God as the Atonement itself.  Thus the fullness of the grace of God is brought out very sweetly... The believer's privilege is a present salvation; the evidence that he is called to it is his holy life."
